The Innovative Design Unit (IDU) focuses on implementing the latest design practices in the industry to the department. It is currently the fifth division set up under KHRI in 2021. A professional team with multidisciplinary experience will be driving this wing. The IDU is responsible for helping the department in solving complex engineering problems. It finds creative design solutions for complex problems with the help of innovative materials and technology. The team also focuses on implementing rapid construction techniques by promoting steel structures and precast structures. Furthermore, the IDU is also guided by experts from the industry and leading national institutions like the IITs and CRRI, strengthening this unit. All the state of the art facilities and tools for BIM implementation will be made available to this unit, and the team will be conducting periodic knowledge transfer sessions to disseminate knowledge in the department.
