Our Journey since 1972

Kerala Highway Research Institute began its operations as an exclusive research institute under the Kerala Public Works Department in 1972 in Chakka. In due course, KHRI started providing material testing services and training programmes. In November 1993, the institute relocated to its current location in Karyavattom to accommodate the need of establishing additional laboratories and equipments. The institute undertakes research and consultancy works related to concrete and structures, geotechnical investigations, pavement design and maintenance and nondestructive testing of concrete structures. Additionally, KHRI provides several training programmes that are tailored to cater the needs of various target audiences involving students and working professionals of KPWD. We have been able to keep pace with the rapid advancements in material testing by way of updating the facilities and expertise and on 6th January 2021, we got our 61 tests accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
